Felling - The process of cutting down a tree.
Notch Cut - A notch cut in a tree that directs the fall of the tree.
Felling Gut — The final cut in a tree felling operation made on the opposite side of the tree from the notch cut.
Bucking ~ The process of cross-cutting a felled tree or log into lengths.
Plunge Cuts/Bore Cuts - The process involved in cutting with the saw chain at the nose (tip) of the guide bar, in
order to make a hole. A WARNING: The manufacturer does not recommend perfonning plunge cuts or
bore cuts due to the dangers of kickback.
Adjusting Pin/AdJusting Screw - A screw and pin system which moves the guide bar forward and backward; used
for chain tensioning. *
Powerhead - The part of the saw including the motor, handle, and hand guard.
